#WearWhatYouWantWednesdays: Pyjama People x Zara: Tanvi Bedi

Having grown sick of everyone – from fashion magazines to random uncles on the streets – telling women what to wear and what not to wear, in a photo series conceptualised by Avantika, the Pyjamas asked our readers to join us in giving all the would-be “stylists of the nation” a sartorial finger.

The Challenge?

To leave behind all the gratuitous advice, fashion or otherwise, that are piled on to women.

The Participant?

Tanvi works for Zoomcar. She is regularly subjected to critique on her body that is polar opposite to what our first participant experiences. While people would chastise Ameya for being “too big,” Tanvi is told she’s “too skinny.”  It would seem there’s no right size at which a woman’s body doesn’t “ask for” a comment from the outside world.

Everyone becomes a nutritionist around her — often counting the segments of her spine to point out the small size of her body (Because an unsolicited opinion is much more useful than a mirror, which Tanvi owns.)

As a result, she hates her back and tries to hide it by avoiding clothes that reveal too much of her upper body. Instead, she highlights her legs, which get a lot of compliments.

In this video, she tells us about her experiences.

Armed with the information Tanvi gave us, we decided to girl up this punk princess with jumpsuit that is a party all by itself. We added over-the-knee-boots so she would see that all of her, not just her legs, are gorgeous and strong.

The Result?
