AntzDoodlesForPyjamaPeople: #11, A perfect present

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have.

Make the NOW the primary focus of life”

– Eckhart Tolle.

Great spiritual teachers always speak about living in the moment and its importance for the human soul. Most of us know this, to a large extent. We understand it makes sense to live in the now, but it is a particularly hard exercise. Who wouldn’t choose to think about the upcoming holiday or not delve over a failed relationship? But we can still try.

A few years ago I found a teacher who changed my life and made sure I live by this philosophy. The lessons were so intense that I had no choice but to learn. This tutor was Rheumatoid Arthritis.

The pain that comes with RA is so temperamental that you have one good day, and you feel on top of the world and think ‘great! I’m getting better!’

Then without warning, the next day the pain is back in its full glory. Initially, you are confused but then with time and experience; you learn this is the nature of chronic illnesses. They forces you to live in the moment and enjoy it to the utmost. Eckhart Tolle, I hear you.
