Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, threatened by Karni Sena, demands title change

Akshay Kumar’s ambitious Prithviraj project has been threatened by the Karni Sena because of its title. The YRF movie is a biopic about Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and is directed by Chandraparaksh Dwivedi. Filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, chairman of the Karni Sena Youth Wing, sets three conditions for the film. It even warned that if Akshay and Aditya Chopra did not accept their demand, they would face a similar situation to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during Padmaavat.

Rathore shares news article clippings on his Instagram page, writing in Hindi that the organization respects Akshay Kumar. He added that producer Aditya Chopra should respect the latest ‘Hindu Samrat’ and use his name with due respect. He warned that the consequences would otherwise be the same as during Padmaavat’s release. And that YRF would be responsible for all losses.

He set out his three terms including ‘screening of the film before release’, ‘the film will be shown to the Rajput society’ and the ‘title of the film with the full name – Veer Yoddha Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’.

In another post, Surjeet Singh Rathore added that the country and the world should be shown the life of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan through this film. He insisted on the demand to use ‘Chauhan’ again in the title and wrote that they honor Akshay Kumar and he would be proud to have played the role of Prithviraj Chauhan.

The 12th-century Indian monarch Prithviraj Chauhan ruled present-day Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. On his birthday in 2019, Akshay Kumar had made the announcement with a short teaser of the film. He wrote: “Delighted to tell about my first historical movie on my birthday! Humiliated to have the chance to play a hero that I look up to for his courage and values - Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan in one of my greatest movies # Prithviraj. Producer @yrf, director #DrChandraprakashDwivedi, to release Diwali 2020. “Due to the pandemic, production of the film was affected and now it is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5 this year.

In a statement, Akshay Kumar also said, “It is truly an honor that I will play the role of one of the most fearless and courageous kings of India, Prithviraj Chauhan. As a nation, we must always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to live the values that the Indians lived by. Prithviraj is our attempt to expose his courage and daredevil. Prithviraj was the only person to face a merciless nemesis and the courage he displayed made him a true Indian hero, an inspiration for generations and a legend. So this announcement on my birthday has indeed made it more special for me. “

In the historical saga, Miss Universe Manushi Chillar is combined opposite Akshay. The ensemble’s cast also includes actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari.
