Several seasons of Downton Abbey are expected to appear on Netflix in the US early June 2021, with at least one series labeled as being released on Netflix June 1, 2021.

The historical drama, which airs in the United Kingdom and on PBS in the United States, is perhaps one of the most recognizable names in the historical drama realm. The show was co-written by Julian Fellowes and ran between 2010 and 2015 and also saw a film spin-off in 2019.

Now the show is scheduled to come to Netflix on June 1, 2021. For long-time Netflix subscribers, you’ll remember this Downton Abbey was a very early addition on Netflix with the series that finally returned in February 2013 and has not been seen since.

This only applies to Netflix in the United States, but keep an eye out for regional lists for the UK, Canada and Australia on our website on Tuesday to see if it falls across multiple regions.

The series is due to appear on Tuesday and is to be marked as Masterpiece classic: Downton Abbey.

Provided it doesn’t leave other platforms, Downton Abbey is shared along with several other streaming platforms in the US. Prime Video, Peacock and Britbox host all six seasons of the show in HD. PBS Passport will also stream the show through February 2023.

This goes against the recent trend of PBS titles leaving Netflix instead of being added. We have seen a great exodus of PBS children’s titles and documentaries in favor of PBS’s own streaming platforms, be it the standalone platforms or the Prime Video Channel. How good PBS’s efforts at streaming are is not known.
