Father Hansal Mehta passed away, filmmaker shares touching post: ‘I thought he would outlive me’

Director Hansal Mehta told early Wednesday morning that his father had passed away. Although he did not share the cause of death, Mehta’s note was filled with love for his father. Mehta shared a photo of the elder gentleman and wrote loving words for him.

“I always thought he would outlive me. I was wrong. See you on the other side Daddy. The most handsome man in the world. And the most gentle and generous human being I’ve ever met. Thank you Daddy for your unconditional love. Thank you, my legend, my hero,” you read in Hansal Mehta’s message on Instagram.

Hansal’s industry colleagues shared their condolences in the comment section of the post. Aahana Kumra wrote, “Deepest condolences to you and your family, sir,” while Ekta Kapoor’s comment was, “Condolences.” Casting director Mukesh Chhabra said he was sorry. Director Vasan Bala said: “Truly my condolences on your loss. Sorry for your loss.”

Others like Shareya Dhanwanthary, Nawwab Shah and Kartik Aaryan also paid tribute to the filmmaker’s father.

Not long ago, Hansal Mehta had shared that six members of his family were battling Covid-19. “Six people in my house, including me, were Covid positive. Our son was critical. But we were helpless because we were sick too. Luckily we were in Mumbai where hospital beds, oxygen and medicines were available. Hopefully we are all now on the road to recovery,” the acclaimed filmmaker said at the time.

On the work front, Hansal Mehta most recently directed Rajkummar Rao starrer Chhalaang, which was released on Amazon Prime Video to mixed reviews.
