Actor Priyanka Chopra and husband Nick Jonas have contributed to Covid-19’s aid in India. Together they started the Together For India fundraising campaign to support the country’s healthcare infrastructure. Now, after raising more than a million dollars in the fundraiser, the couple wants people to contribute more to combat the problems of hunger and malnutrition among humans in the aftermath of the pandemic.
In a video posted to Twitter, PeeCee said, “As the war on Covid-19 continues in India, we see further ramifications and desperation caused by the pandemic.” Nick added, “Millions of Indians struggle to eat even one meal a day. A recent study from Azeem Premji University found that a year Covid-19 pushed 213 million Indians into poverty. Priyanka also pointed out the problem of millions of children being given midday meals in schools and unable to eat a nutritious meal since the schools closed due to the closure.

So the couple urged the people to contribute generously so that the needy can get cooked meals or dry rations and the country can fight starvation. “We are overwhelmed with the support that has come in and as we raise more to support India’s healthcare infrastructure, we are also keen to support another critical need that has emerged in our fight against Covid, fighting hunger and malnutrition in India, ”The White Tiger actor wrote along with the video.
Nick Jonas also shared, “So far, with your support, we have raised more than $ 1 million for our Together For India fundraiser to support oxygen supply for Covid patients and set up vaccination centers to help stem the spread of the pandemic. With your money, we have been able to purchase 500 oxygen concentrators and 422 oxygen bottles and have helped more than 6000 people get vaccinated. “
The couple concluded their video by saying, “We humbly ask you to continue with your heartfelt donations, this way we can ensure that we end starvation as well. So let’s come together for India and help us save lives. “
