Sherni teaser: Vidya Balance ranger finds her way into the wild, look

A teaser of Vidya Balan starrer Sherni is here. Directed by Amit Masurkar and written by Aastha Tiku, Vidya plays the role of an IFS (Indian Forest Service) office.

Plot details of this Amazon Studios movie are sparse at the moment, but the official YouTube description of the movie suggests that Balan’s character will try to find a balance in a hostile world where humans and animals are in conflict.

The teaser is short and doesn’t give anything away. It compares Balans heroine to a sherni (translated in promotional materials as tigress, although lioness would be more accurate). There are shots of a vast forest landscape.

“No matter how dense the jungle is, the tigress always finds her way,” says Balan as she walks through grasslands with two subordinates at her side.

Despite the fact that the plot is kept secret, we can easily deduce that this is another strong lead for the actor. Vidya Balan has played complicated, compelling written women with their own feelings and freedom of choice in her films for years, unlike most female actors in Hindi cinema who do not have that luxury.

Sherni looks like another opportunity for Vidya to show off her significant acting performance. Vijay Raaz, Neeraj Kabi, Ila Arun, Sharat Saxena, Brijendra Kala and others also star in Sherni.

Sherni’s official logline reads, “An upright forest officer who strives for balance in a world of human-animal conflict, while also seeking her true calling in a hostile environment.”

The full trailer for Sherni will be released on June 2. There is no release date yet.
