Now we come to some of the highlights of today’s new releases.

American Woman (2019)

Genre: theatre
Director: Semi-chellas
Occupation: Hong Chau, Ellen Burstyn, Greg Campbell, David Cubitt
Writer: Semi Chellas, Susan Choi (novel)
Running time: 85 minutes

There are a number of titles called American Woman, including a 2018 TV series and movie, but we’re specifically referring to the 2019 film, which is based on the novel by Susan Choi.

Unfortunately, neither critics nor audiences have been friendly so far, but maybe it will now get a wider audience on Netflix.

Here’s what the movie is about:

“When her teenage daughter goes missing, a mother from rural Pennsylvania faces the harrowing search for answers to her own painful past.”

High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Changed America (Limited Edition)

Genre: Docuseries, food, travel
Running time: 59 minutes

Today, Netflix joined the collection of food documentaries, which explores the influence of black culture on the American food scene.

The four-part series hosted by Stephen Satterfield is well produced and worth a look for any gourmet.

Nail bomber: wanted (2021)

Genre: documentary
Director: Daniel Vernon
Running time: 72 minutes

Sticking to documentaries, but in a completely different arena Nail bomber: manhunt.

The Doc turns the clock back to 1999 in the UK, where a string of bombings in London terrorized the capital. This documents the investigation in order to bring the perpetrator to justice.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Season 3)

Genre: Animation, action, adventure, drama, fantasy, horror, thriller
Occupation: Matthew Mercer, Daisuke Ono, Unshô Ishizuka, David Vincent
Running time: 30 minutes
Awards: 2 wins and 10 nominations.

JoJo’s bizarre adventure has had a strange few months on Netflix. It has gone from barely on Netflix to being completely removed to more seasons than ever before.

While Netflix has another season, it’s still far from the final collection of JoJo’s bizarre adventure.

Haven’t you checked the anime before? What you can expect:

“Several generations of the Joestar family – all with the same nickname – encounter supernatural villains in a number of time frames.”
